OUR HISTORY

The Capital Sports Group was born from a division of Pinkard Properties, a fourth generation commercial real estate firm in Baltimore, Maryland.  In 2011, Mr. Greg Pinkard, Mr. Athan Sunderland, and Ms. Katherine Pinkard were successfully operating the various businesses of Pinkard Properties, including a large scale development and management project in Towson, Maryland, when the need for local sports facilities was identified, vetted, and ultimately pursued.  To support this division of the firm’s business, Pinkard Sports Management was created. Mr. Sunderland led all of Pinkard Sports Management's development initiatives while Mr. Pinkard and Ms. Pinkard led all management roles.

In 2016, Mr. David Huntley, the most accomplished and admired icon in the sport of lacrosse, joined the firm and Pinkard Sports Management re-branded itself as the Huntley Sports Group. With Mr. Huntley’s support and influence, the firm continued to make tremendous strides and spread its influence in areas of real estate, sports, programming, and technology.

Unfortunately, Mr. Huntley suddenly passed away on December 18, 2017 and in early 2019, to best honor Mr. Huntley’s legacy, the name of the firm was changed to the Capital Sports Group.  Mr. Huntley will always be a guiding spirit within the firm’s core ethos, vision, and relentless pursuit of successfully bettering our communities the right way, the “Huntley” way.

Today, the Huntley Sports Group’s original mission and inspiration continues on as the Capital Sports Group.  The name change in no way changed the interworking of the organization, its people, or it ethos, but rather, the name change reflects the ever broadening global and community spirit of the firm, while respecting the name and legacy of David Huntley.
